We didn't have a chance to get to this yesterday, but Butch Davis has spoken up about the scandal which ended his time at UNC. He said, among other things, "[d]id I know [that former assistant John Blake] had such a close relationship with a sports agent? No. Should I have known? I wish I had known. As the head coach, you want to know every single thing. ... But logically, you know you simply can't know everything."
Well can't disagree with that! However, Blake came to UNC with a bit of a reputation and the nickname Black Santa. They might have been friends, but if reporters and fans were aware of rumors about Blake, Davis can't possibly have not known himself. If Blake blew up in his face, he was the one who hired the grenade.
