With their loss, and just 1-6 in the ACC, Miami is now effectively playing for the NIT. Georgia Tech will be lucky to do that. Pressure is likely to build on both schools athletic directors.
Just 10-10, the Yellowjackets have no guarantee of a winning season, not that Miami does either at this point.
Coincidentally, the two teams play each other next, so someone will get a break.
In the last two games, Boston College has come back to earth sharply. at the top of the ACC not too long ago, BC is now in a three-way tie for fourth place, along with Virginia Tech and Clemson.
Maryland and Georgia Tech are not too far behind at 3-3, although Georgia Tech pretty much has to win the rest of the conference season or the conference tournament to play their way in.
That's true for State, Virginia, and Wake Forest as well, and also Miami, as we have already discussed.
As for the top seven, they still have hopes.
