Duke finally received some company in the Top 25 as Florida State made it to #22 in the AP poll. They will put that on of the line when they visit Clemson on the 29th, but if they win that one they stand a good chance of a significant rise:  after that, they will get Wake Forest, UNC, Georgia Tech, Virginia, and Wake Forest.  Of these, the toughest likely be UNC in Chapel Hill, but if they can pull off these games, they will move into the Top 15 or so.

North Carolina 3-1 .750 13-5 .722
Boston College 4-2 .667 14-6 .700
Virginia Tech 3-2 .600 13-5 .722

Maryland 2-3 .400 12-7 .632
NC State 2-3 .400 12-7 .632
Virginia 2-3 .400 11-8 .579
Georgia Tech 2-3 .400 9-9 .500
Miami 1-4 .200 12-7 .632
Wake Forest 0-5 .000 7-13 .350

We had expected to UNC be in this position, but not quite, as it turns out.  However, like Duke and Florida State, they have just one loss in conference play and consequently remain  a contender for the regular season title.

The Tar Heels are having a certain amount of flux as Kendall Marshall has moved into the starting lineup while  Leslie McDonald recovers from illness and Justin Watts hurt his ankle against Clemson.

They will play Wednesday in Miami.

There's a chance that Florida State could be lining up for their best basketball season since Dave Cowens was on campus.

That's certainly not the case with Wake Forest, as the Demon Deacons are bad enough that many think they may finish 0-16, a feat no ACC team has yet accomplished.

The last ACC team to go winless was Maryland in the wake (pun intended) of the Bias disaster.

On Tuesday, State will put the momentum they took out of the Miami game on the line when they visit Clemson, an increasingly tough defensive team, and Virginia Tech travels to Atlanta to take the measure of the Yellowjackets.
