Good afternoon -

This is your "out of the blue" e-mail for the day.

In February 2007 you had a thread on your forum about Terry Chili (Duke '76) and his daughter Alex Chili, who was then a senior in high school. Just wanted to let you know that Alex Chili is thriving here at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa. She is currently averaging 21.8 points per game and has already broken or tied several school records, including career three-pointers. She should break our conference record for career three-pointers in a couple of weeks, and since she's just a junior, she should put plenty of distance between herself and second place. The school's all-time scoring record, the conference's all-time scoring record and 2,000 points are well within reach at her current pace.

(She's also an 80-percent-plus free-throw shooter. Terry was notoriously bad from the line, although he did make those two free throws vs. Maryland in 1976.)

The team has done very well since Alex got here, making the NCAA Tournament the last two years and earning a national ranking all three. The Mules are 59-14 the last three years. And Alex is doing very well in the classroom, with a high GPA that makes her an Academic All-America candidate.

Here are some recent articles about her:

Thought you might have some long-time followers of Blue Devil basketball who would be interested in the update. We're very happy to have Alex here!

Sincerely,

Mike Falk, Sports Information Director
