In Sunday's sole ACC game, as the Wolfpack celebrated 100 years of basketball, they also knocked off Miami 72-70 to get a much-needed win.

Miami on the other hand lost away from home yet again, falling to 1-4 in the ACC. Their only one to date is a one-point victory over Boston College.
Their next two games are UNC at home and Virginia Tech on the road, so things are not going to get easier.
For State, the win moves them to 12-7 and 2-3 in the conference. More importantly than just the win is how they won. After collapsing down the stretch against Boston College, and being manhandled by Florida State and Duke, State needed to show some guts and some heart. This is not like beating Wake Forest; they had to earn this one. In the last 44 seconds, Tracy Smith got an offensive rebound and a basket, Ryan Harrow came up with a steal, and C.J. Williams put down a key foul shot.
All in all, a nice step for a young and growing team.
Andrew Jones has a perceptive article up about the changes Sidney Lowe made for this game. He elected to start Williams and sophomore Robert Howell ahead of Lorenzo Brown and C.J. Leslie, who Jones noted didn't seem to take the demotion very well.
For Miami, it's a critical loss. As has often been the case during Frank Haith's career at Miami, the Hurricanes have a lot of talent but can't quite seem to get over the hump.
No games Monday as usual, but action resumes on Tuesday as State travels to Clemson with a chance to build on the Miami win, and Virginia Tech travels to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech.
