ACC Roundup!

Wake coach Jeff Bzdelik has decided to bench center Ty Walker, basically because Walker is focusing too much on blocking shots rather than attending to the rest of his responsibilities.

Bzdelik:

“You have to play with some physicality around the rim. You have to post up strong. You have to run the court hard. You can’t let people get deep low post position on you. You have to pick your spots to block shots. You can’t just stand there and allow people to catch the ball and then try to block the shot after the fact.

“There’s a lot more to it. Until he learns to do those other things, it’s hard to give him a lot of extended minutes, to be quite frank.”

Kaboom!  Being called out publicly by your coach is not pleasant, but it may benefit him  in the long run.

While Wake faces a potentially awful season, Ol' Roy Williams is happy with his team's tenacity.

There's just one ACC game on Tuesday, but it should be a fun one: State travels to Boston College where they will be introduced to Steve Donahue's system.  This could prove to be a high-scoring and highly entertaining game.

Speaking of State, their centennial celebration is coming up soon.  State has been down for a while, but they have a glorious and important history which is well worth celebrating.

Georgia Tech was also scheduled to play Clemson, but that game was postponed due to the large winter storm which has hammered the South.  the game has been rescheduled for Wednesday.

Tough break for Virginia as the Cavaliers will be without Mike Scott for the rest of the season. He will be having surgery on his ankle for the second time this season.
