The national champions spent an evening at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, where Jon Scheyer, Brian Zoubek, and Lance Thomas threw out ceremonial first balls. The entire team was recognized during the third inning to great acclaim.
In his comments, Coach K said that Durham and Duke were joined at the hip. His instincts on this point are correct and he has consistently reinforced this argument, particularly since the lacrosse case. He has also done more than most people to build on this, which is quite literally true when it comes to the Emily K. Center.
Clearly the relationship has some rough edges, but he's right -- one can't exist without the other.
