Only one game ACC game Tuesday as Miami visits Wake Forest fresh off of their home win over Virginia Tech. All things considered, it's hard to pick against Wake in that one. Miami's conference woes aside, point guard play has been erratic, and Wake's definitely has not.

Still, the talk of the ACC and much of the nation is what's happened to UNC. Let's face it - no one expected it. All the magazines, all the Web sites, everyone picked UNC high.

Well almost everyone. Our
preview
, in retrospect, is probably more accurate than most:

Still, UNC’s problems appear to be pretty clear: experience, outside shooting, and leadership with such a young roster...defensive habits haven’t been established...UNC, like it or not, will have to rely a lot on freshmen McDonald and Strickland...the basic issues – a solid point guard and three point shooting – are critical. UNC has a lot of talent inside and the ability, at least individually, to get up and down the court in a hurry. The break, though, won’t be as coherent as it was with Lawson running it as an experienced and lightning-fast junior, and teams will probably have more luck slowing UNC down than they have lately. Davis, Thompson and Zeller will get their points inside, but when other teams zone UNC -and they will until the Heels prove it to be bad strategy – someone has to step up and hit threes...There’s a lot of talent, to sum it up, but it’s young and unproven with a lot of rough edges. They’ll still win a lot of games, don’t get us wrong, but it’s not a finished product.

The last sentence might have been a tad too generous, but other than that, we'll put that preview up against anyone else's.

Some UNC fans, by the way, are having a hard time dealing with the way this season is developing. Whatever actually happened here, the description of both the UNC and Virginia fans are hilarious.

That's obviously the most talked-about story lately, but in Tallahassee, junior Jordan DeMercy has given up on his Florida State career.
