A Duke Athlete Faces His Greatest Challenge

We'd like to pass on some news about Kevin McDermott, who ran for the track and cross country teams from 2005-2009. He was paralyzed in July when he suffered a C5 vertebra injury in a swimming pool dive which paralyzed him from the neck down. He's showing immense courage though, and to our amazement, and that of his doctors, he has managed to lift his legs. That's an incredible accomplishment in his position. It almost never happens.

His family is doing everything they can to help him and have set up a web site for people who wish to donate to help him. You can find that here. We're immensely impressed with his courage and attitude and wish him nothing but the best as his brave and lonely fight continues.
