One of the cooler ACC players of the 1970s - in every sense - was Skip Brown.
One of Carl Tacy's off the beaten path recruits (Brown was from Kingsport, Tennessee), Brown was one of two Skips in the ACC for a year, overlapping with Clemson's Skip Wise, who unwisely skipped out after his freshman year.
Wake's Skip, who had 'Skip' instead of Brown on his jersey and went toe to toe with most of the more celebrated ACC guards, including Wise, Phil Ford, John Lucas, Monte Towe and others, is now a banker. He's CEO of TriStone Community Bank and chairman of the N.C. Bankers Association and has built up Tristone from a startup to the point where it's worth acquiring.
