State Hires Yow's Successor

This should be interesting: Lee Fowler is going to hire Western Carolina's Kellie Harper to replace the late Kay Yow, bypassing Yow's assistant, and former stand-in, Stephanie Glance.

Harper is just 32, which obviously means an injection of energy into the program, which would probably be a plus. It's certainly not taking anything away from Kay Yow to point out that she could hardly have been expected to apply great energy to her job when she was terminally ill.

Still, a lot of State fans will be upset that Glance, who was loyal, steadfast, and pretty darn good, won't get the job.

If Fowler is smart, he'll offer her a job in the department that is high profile and that she can't refuse. In some meaningful way, she should be rewarded for her loyalty.
