We took a pass on ridiculing Jim Calhoun over his recent dust-up with a reporter because, let's face it, it's not the first time he's made an ass of himself. There was the tickets-for-cars business, the sleazy AAU business, and the laptop thefts by two guards which had a lot of people calling his school UCon, and his feud with Geno Auriemma among others. It's not on the same scale, but the ring-buying binge (if you lived in Connecticut you probably have one yourself) after their first title was also quite funny.
But when Gregg Doyel uses the words "attention hound" and it's not self-referencing, well, it's worth mentioning.
For the record, we don't care what Calhoun makes.  His entire salary was worth it just to see him as he is when he threw that fit. And we all know AAU teams aren't as cheap as they used to be.
Here's a drinking game suggestion: for every time Doyel uses the word I in an article, take a drink. You won't be waking up any time soon.
