State's win was more impressive than the score indicates. The Pack managed Wake for most of the game, building a 20 point lead before Wake came back late. They threw a box-and-one at Jeff Teague and dared the rest of his team to beat them from outside. They couldn't. Wake made a furious comeback but State, in a change, held on.
Since starting 16-0, Wake is 2-4 and only beat Duke on a last-second shot in that streak. Jeff Teague said that "We have to realize that everyone is gunning for us. We came out lackadaisical. We think we're Wake Forest and everyone is going to lay down for us. When we start realizing that they're not, we'll get back to winning."
Better hurry up: Wake is now looking up at five teams.
We really didn't see this one coming The loss to Virginia Tech this past weekend was deflating. We didn't think State could bounce back like this.
In Blacksburg, Tech's frustrations continue - Georgia Tech's, that is. They had a shot against the Hokies but couldn't close the gap, and Malcolm Delaney ended the discussion in the second half. The Yellow Jackets have now lost eight of nine and are wishing Derrick Favors could show up now. To make matters worse, star rookie Imam Shumpert might have broken his nose.
