Time does fly: Sam Cassell, who first gained fame by calling the Dean Dome crowd a "cheese and wine crowd" (not a wine and cheese crowd, as it was later remembered), is, at long last, planning to retire - after the upcoming season. Thirty nine, which he'll be when he retires, is ancient for a guard.
Cassell, who has won titles with the Rockets and the Celtics, has had perhaps the best NBA career of any Florida state grad this side of Dave Cowens. Plus he had one of the enduring lines in ACC history.
