WRAL's Sweet 16 poll for the best Triangle team ever comes down to Duke's back-to-back title teams vs. State's '73 and '74 teams. UNC is shut out.The contest became somewhat controversial when WRAL decided a large number of votes were invalid and restored UNC after they were eliminated.
Then earlier Wednesday, the poll mysteriously disappeared from the site, with UNC holding a narrow lead.
As it turned out, neither event changed the final results. But if people question WRAL's fairness in light of those events, they only have themselves to blame.
