Although it's voluntary, the NABC strongly discourages taking commitments from junior high players. Not everyone is listening, and most particularly, not Billy Donovan, who has accepted a commitment from Austin Rivers, son of Doc Rivers, coach of the Celtics. The younger Rivers is a ninth grader.
Donovan doesn't particularly appreciate the NABC's position on this. He's the first coach to accept a commitment from a player this young since the coaches took a position.
