Shawn Kemp had a memorable burnout to his NBA career, losing his way to alcoholism and cocaine addiction, finishing his career, to borrow from Dean Wormer, fat, dumb, and stupid.
But not lonely! Even by the remarkable NBA standards of promiscuity, Kemp was All-League when it came to sowing his seed, with at least seven children around the country.
One of them, Shawn junior, is now 17 and becoming a player of note himself. He's expected to be 7 feet tall when he finishes growing, and is being closely watched by college recruiters.
All that said, he sounds like, at 17, he's already a better man than his father.Â
