Legendary sportscaster Jim McKay has died at the age of 87. A superb and natural talent, McKay will be remembered for his Olympic broadcasts (in particular 1972's Munich games, marred by terrorism) and the Wide World Of Sports. The prase "the thrill of victory...the agony of defeat" will ring in many people's ears for decades yet to come. He'll be missed, to say the least.
Follow-up: we didn't realize that he was the father of Duke grad Sean McManus, who is president of CBS News and sports. Best wishes to him and his family in this time of grief.
