Tranghese To Step Down

After a long and eventful run, Mike Tranghese will step down as Big East Commissioner next year.

The biggest event of his tenure was the epic struggle with the ACC over three defecting schools.  Originally intended to be Syracuse, B.C., and Miami, after a bizarre series of events, Virginia Tech came in place of the Orange.

He did a solid, if perhaps not an enduring, job of papering over the damage with his own expansion, but time will tell if a conference which is split between football schools and schools with no interest in football can get along.
