Maryland's recent turmoil continues as Gus Gilchrist has bailed. Gilchrist, who originally was going to go to Virginia Tech but changed his mind after the shootings, has decided to leave College Park after the ACC turned down his appeals to play in the fall semester (the ACC frowns on intra-conference transfers and penalizes people who attempt them).
He says he wants to play right away, but to transfer to another D-1 school would mandate sitting out an entire year, barring a waiver from the NCAA.
This follows the recruiting fiasco of Tyree Evans and conceivably the loss of the two of them denies Maryland their best outside and inside player.
