Aren't There More Important Things To Do?

Maybe it's just us, but we're getting really sick of Congress "investigating" sports issues. Are there valid occasions for this? Surely. But just as often, it's a chance for blowhards to puff and preen.

Now, a congressman from Georgia and one from Idaho and one from Hawaii, unhappy about how the BCS system worked out for their schools, are calling for the Justice Department to investigate whether or not the BCS amounts to an illegal restriction on trade.

Let's be clear about this: we agree with them on a playoff system. Aren't their more important things for them to deal with, though? There are serious, potentially catastrophic problems looming and these guys are angry because their local football teams didn't get as much respect as they felt like they should? That's pathetic.
