Coach K Hosts Final Four Reception

As you may recall, back at the ACC's Media Day in Greensboro prior to the start of the season, a couple of cheeky sports reporters asked Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and UNC coach Roy Williams if each would host a party for the other school's fans if that school reached the Final Four. Both laughingly agreed with Coach K saying that if hosted a party for Carolina fans they would pay for him not to show up.Well, now that UNC, for better or worse, is in the Final Four, Coach K, who will be in San Antonio for the National Association of Basketball Coaches annual meeting, is keeping his word and will, along with his daughter Debbie Savarino, be hosting a reception at 3:00pm on Sunday, April 6th at the newly opened Grand Hyatt San Antonio, which is one of the NCAA's host hotels. UNC Athletic Director Dick Baddour will also appear with Coach K. Roy Williams may make an appearance but that depends on practice times and other potential conflicts.

The reception, which will occur regardless of whether UNC wins or loses on Saturday, will be held in Salons D and E of the Lone Star Ballroom, which is on Level 2 of the hotel. The hotel itself is located at 600 East Market Street, adjacent to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Hors d'oeuvres will be served and there will be a cash bar. Admission is free but is limited to a maximum of 350 people. If you are interested in attending (yes, any Duke fans in the area can - and are encouraged - to attend), you will need to call the UNC Ticket Office to have your name placed on the list. Up to four names may be provided. You can phone the ticket office at (800) 722-4335 or (919) 962-2296, Monday through Friday between 8:00am to 5:00pm.
