Dick Groat will be honored Saturday, and while there won't be many people in Cameron who remember seeing him play, he was incredible: name anyone else who led the nation in both assists and scoring. Wow.We spoke recently to a Bubas-era player who told us of playing pick-up with Groat, who just amazed him, shooting all sort of unconventional baskets, playing as if he'd never stopped.
Most of our memories come from either the Bubas, Foster or Krzyzewski eras, but there was great basketball here before, just as there'll be great basketball beyond. But let's really honor one of Duke's greatest this Saturday.
