John Feinstein long ago earned the right to be in on any discussion of Bob Knight. He has a very fine column up at the Post about Knight which we highly recommend. He was also on Dave Glenn's show on 850 The Buzz Tuesday and told a great Knight/Krzyzewski story. Apparently, K and Pete Newell were in the room when Feinstein proposed "A Season On The Brink" to Knight, explaining that he'd like to spend the season embedded with the team to do it it.
After leaving the room, Krzyzewski questioned his sanity, saying he had no idea what he'd gotten himself into. Feinstein apparently thought it would be no big deal. K told him he had no idea what he was talking about.
We're paraphrasing, and the language was funnier that that. It was just striking to hear K say that about his mentor who he loves and admires, but who he knows most people wouldn't be able to tolerate.
