ACC Roundup

Dan Mason says the ACC is mediocre this year. Maybe so, but there sure have been a lot of entertaining games so far, and only Duke and UNC have pulled away from the pack. Virginia is 1-4, but it's not like they're completely hopeless. Nine teams are bunched up in the middle, which should make for a fun few weeks.Oliver Purnell has seen his season hit hard by injuries, but he's trying to stay positive.

As Wake gets ready for Miami, Chas McFarland is back from an ankle tweak, but L.D. Williams is out with a broken hand.

With the addition of 99.9 FM The Fan to the radio dial, competition for the guy market has really heated up. The Fan will have Matthew Laurence on Mondays after weekend games; this Monday he was also on Dave Glenn's show on 850 The Buzz.

The market is also getting somewhat complicated: Glenn's radio show is on The Buzz; he also has a blogging gig with WRAL.com. WRAL's parent company owns The Fan, but The Buzz has the rights to Duke games.

So Glenn works for both rivals, Matthew's work goes out over The Buzz while he has a commitment to The Fan.

No one in management is going to be happy with that sort of overlap for long.

In his latest letter to the Virginia Tech paper, Seth Greenberg doesn't promise a victory, as he seemed to do for the Duke game, but rather says "ACC basketball is not about one game."

Former B.C. star Jared Dudley is adjusting nicely to the NBA. Here's an interview with the rookie Bobcat.
