As you read yesterday, Sidney Lowe's assistant, Larry Harris, was arrested in downtown Raleigh. With more information coming out, a sketchy picture of what may have happened is emerging: Harris was actually pepper sprayed by the arresting officer, R.W. King (no relation to Julio) after Harris repeatedly refused to hand over his license and registration and then resisted arrest.
Harris, through his attorney, has filed a complaint with the Raleigh police department, accusing King of "assault, excessive force and conduct unbecoming an officer," according to the N&O.
We don't know Larry Harris, but we can say we've never heard a bad word about him. Something isn't adding up here. All this over a minor speeding ticket? It doesn't make sense.
