Attorney General Cooper suggested that a new oversight law be put in place which would give the Supreme Court the right to take cases away from out of control prosecutors. That's a good start.
One of the players, in his press conference comments, suggested that the state should require transcripts for Grand Jury proceedings. Given what happened here, that is beyond dispute.
And Joseph Cheshire pointed out that a current bill would roll back the discovery law which proved so critical in this case. If you live in this state, we urge you to contact your representatives and tell them in no uncertain terms to oppose it.
There will be many other suggestions made. Cooper's presser had the feeling of instant historical significance. We'd hope that it is followed up with courage from the legislature and outrage from the people. Even if you only call them to register your feelings about Cooper's comments, please do so.
