The run that the State women have made is really remarkable, and obviously fueled by deep emotions in reaction to coach Kay Yow's cancer, which increasingly appears to be very grave. UConn is next up for the Pack, and the Huskies are naturally concerned about this game. They should be.
Win or lose, though, Yow is leaving a mark as lasting as Jim Valvano's. No one wants to die, least of all of a terrible disease, but there is such a thing as dying well. Yow has lived with cancer and beaten it twice - lived bravely, to put it simply. If she is to die, like Valvano, she's leaving an impression of vitality and defiance and immense courage. Mazeltov.
