In ACC news, UNC has seized the top spot in both polls after UCLA's loss to Texas. Duke is sixth in the AP and seventh in the ESPN/USA TODAY's. Clemson is 18th in the AP and 17th in ESPN/USA TODAY.

The Jimmy V Foundation has announced a fund to honor Kay Yow, an honor which is richly deserved. That Yow is alive to see it is remarkable and underscores just how much progress has been made in the fight against cancer. The Jimmy V Foundation has a lot to do with that.
Showing that humor is a Valvano family trait, Nick Valvano said that âKay and Jim shared a passion for winning and that passion will now also be applied to fighting cancer with hopefully the same winning result they had on the court. It was a no-brainer. They both shared the same courage. About the only difference is my brother had nowhere near the humility that she has.â
We saw that B.C. had come back against Providence, but didn't realize just what a remarkable comeback it was.
Know how Clemson fans have been on the verge of running Tommy Bowden off the last few years? Looks like they might get their wish. They may come to regret it though. Speaking of Clemson football that billboard we talked about recently came down, but it scored some points before it did, and it apparently hit Steve Spurrier right between the eyes. So it goes south of the border.
Maryland is having some growing pains. Here's our second favorite ACC student paper, the Diamondback, on the struggling Terps.
Overall, the ACC is 68-17 against outside competition. Conference play will sort out a lot of things, but looking at current trends, one could probably assume the following:
- Duke, Clemson, UNC, Florida State, Miami and Virginia are on target for bids, and it's always foolish to count out B.C.
- Both Techs face an uphill battle, and Maryland will have to improve, though Gary Williams has heard that before and still rallied his team.
- Wake Forest has some interesting pieces but the offense is struggling even though Gaudio has the Deacs playing defense.
- And N.C. State...well it's hard to tell. They have talent and depth but the chemistry, to date, has been poor.
In Tuesday night action, UNC travels to Philly to give Wayne Ellington his promised home game (they promise everyone a game back home, but it used to be more of a senior tradition), B.C. faces Rick Majerus and his St. Louis Billikens (the hell I can said the Billikens!), and Virginia Tech takes on nearby opponent UNCG). It'd be a major shock if UNC lost, but the others are ver
This has been a bizarre year for Kentucky, and UK fans are surely not pleased to learn that Alex Legion is bailing after one semester. Billy Gillispie spent the day at funerals for former Kentucky stars and then came back to Lexington to deal with this. Fun city. Here's more on the odd transfer, with even his father confused.
