From the misery loves company department, VCU knocked off Maryland Sunday, 85-76. Whatever you want to say about Maryland, they're not quite there yet, and Greivis Vasquez's struggles from the floor are part of their problems.Miami got a little bit of a game from St. John's but ultimately pulled away to win 66-47. It's easy to forget that they used to be in the same conference, isn't it?

Samford suckered FSU into a slow-paced game, but it didn't matter in the end as the 'Noles won 61-45.
Florida State's Toney Douglas says he's still learning to play point guard, but he's also taking a great deal of pride in his defense.
With UCLA's loss to Texas, UNC is certain to inherit the top spot in the polls. UNC, Duke, and Clemson are ranked, with State, Miami, and Virginia also getting votes. State was 24th last week in the AP, but Michigan State walloped them right out of that.
Former Terp Terrence Morris and former Yellow Jacket Will Bynum show up in this story from Israel and a big game between Bnei Hasharon and Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Former Wake coach Dave Odom has struggled to make South Carolina relevant in the SEC, and guard Devan Downey has sounded an alarm, warning that "this thing could get out of hand." You can reasonably expect that to be passed around to recruits.
We started to make a crack last night congratulating Virginia Tech for winning the ACC's secondary sports title, but let it go. But then tonight we read that Jacksonville Municipal Stadium wasn't even close to sold out. It underscores two points: first, that Jacksonville is too far south for everyone north of Charlotte. And second, the ACC was, is, and will be a basketball conference. Football will always be huge at Miami and Florida State, but even there, the basketball teams are very likely to have better seasons than the football teams just turned in.
Or we could just save time and centralize things and kick one of the geographically remote schools out and bring in VCU. They seem to understand the main event pretty well.
