Boozer's Agony & Revelation

The whole NBA lifestyle is lush and seductive: millions of dollars, unimaginable luxury, and a sense of being able to have it all. Periodically, though, people find out that it's an illusion, and for Carlos Boozer, the reality came hard and brutal as a baseball bat on the back of his head.

Boozer's world was turned upside down when his son was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia. Carlos and his wife, CeCe, opted to try a very risky form of therapy involving blood marrow transplant. It's been a harrowing experience for them, and it's clearly changed Carlos's perspective on his career and his purpose in life. It's a difficult situation, and it's unresolved, but the way Carlos and CeCe have dealt with it is pretty much a triumph.
