Virginia Tech has had a string of bad news when it comes to basketball, but they did get some good news when J.T. Thompson cleared the NCAA academic hurdle and was declared eligible. Good thing for Tech, since, as the Roanoke Times points out, "[s]ignee Gus Gilchrist opted not to attend Tech. Nigel Munson and Robert Krabbendam decided to leave the school. Signee Dorenzo Hudson didn't finish his high school coursework in time to apply for Tech for the fall semester; he hopes to be admitted for the spring semester so he can join the team in mid-December. Freshman Darrion Pellum did not meet NCAA eligibility standards and will transfer."
Tech also lost seven players after last season, so basically, they're starting over.
