The State newspaper out of South Carolina ranks
the college basketball dynasties. Duke? #6. They base it on the
Krzyzewski era, but if you take a broader look, from 1960 to 2006, Duke has had
six disappointing seasons, seven counting 1995, Final Fours under three
different coaches, and a lot of other interesting stuff. Mike Krzyzewski
has been a brilliant coach for Duke, but as he's said himself, the tradition is
considerable and doesn't start with him (let's hope it doesn't end with him
too!).
Actually, they do the same to Michigan, which had some serious teams in the
60s and the 70s as well, when Johnny Orr was in charge.
