State continues to impress: Clemson is a solid team, and State really only
goes six deep. Yet they hung in there against a pressing defense.
The record doesn't reflect it completely, but Sidney Lowe is doing an impressive
job. If you took the vote today, Oliver Purnell - rightly - would be the
runaway candidate for coach of the year. But Lowe would have to get some
votes too.
Clemson has a tough game coming up at Maryland, but if the Tigers can pull it
off, they'll host UNC in a huge matchup on the 17th. Biggest came
ever in Littlejohn? It's harder to think of one that was bigger.
Unlike the State game, where the Pack kept pushing back into contention, Wake
was never seriously in a position to challenge B.C., and only got within
shouting range when the game was long since decided.
Wake's season is in some danger. At 8-8 and heading into the heart of
conference play, the Deacs will have to turn things around, and quickly, and
that's if they have serious hopes of making the NIT.
Quentin Thomas has had a tough career thus far at UNC,
but he seems to be a level-headed guy and someone you'd like having on your
side.
