Bob Knight is, to say the least, a volatile character. And while he's
tied Dean Smith for the all-time win record at 879, you can't help but
wonder where he'd be if he could have controlled himself. Think back to the 14
and 16 win seasons, to the way he destroyed his recruiting base and couldn't
really very often recruit more than a couple of states away.
For argument's sake, lets' say that his lack of emotional control cost him
two games a year since 1982. Or to round it up a bit, just call it 20
games. Knight could easily have won 900 games by now. Toss in a few
NCAA wins, and it just keeps going up.
But he's always done it his way and there's no reason to expect that to
change. First chance to break the record: Las Vegas.
