According to Joe Alleva, who should know, Ted
Roof doesn't need to polish up his resume. This is good news if only for one
simple reason: Duke simply cannot keep switching coaches every couple of
years and hope to get anywhere in football. Even a mediocre coach - and we
don't think Roof is mediocre, though he's in a tremendously challenging job -
should be able to get mediocre results. Duke has fallen off the map in
football. Getting to the top is unlikely, but seeing travelers on the road
there should be feasible. Stability is an absolute requirement,
however.
