Tomorrow in Cameron, Duke opens up its season against the Northeastern
Huskies of the CAA. The game will be at 2PM as Coach G kicks off her 15th
season as Duke's head coach. The Huskies were just 8-21 last season,
getting hammered by Old Dominion and Holy Cross, two teams that Duke
defeated handily. Northeastern returns two of its three top scorers in
guard Ashlee Feldman (12.4 ppg, 36% three) and wing Shaleyse Smallwood
(11.7 ppg). Starting point guard Jody Burrows is also back, and she's
good for 6 ppg & 4 apg. The Huskies feature just one healthy player 6-2
and over, so look for Duke to pound it inside early & often. The Devils
will also likely have to compete against a zone, so this will be a chance
for its guards to snap out of their early shooting slump from long range.
Oh, the first 500 students who show up get free stuff, by the way.
