For State, going to Chapel Hill has been a bad trip in recent years.
Well, okay, since Dean Smith took over it's been a bad trip. But Norm
Sloan had his moments, and so did Jim Valvano. For Herb Sendek, it's been
a bit tougher.

This wouldn't the first time State's gone into Chapel Hill at 12-1 and come
out at 12-2. And this time, State
is the clear favorite,
with a vastly more experienced team and just about
everything in its favor. At least on paper. Maybe UNC could
get Art Chansky to write a story saying they had no chance to win this
game. Worked before!

Miami beat Maryland last year, and the
Terps are still thinking about that
, and are hoping for payback. It
may be made easier since Guillermo
Diaz is having some trouble with his knee.
Add that to the problems
Anthony Harris has had, and you can see why Miami has struggled.

Dave Leitao
has a ways to go at UVa,
but he has gotten the players to listen to him, and
he does have a backcourt to work with.

This is not a basketball note, but
Marcus Vick has been kicked off the Virginia Tech football team.

Sounds like they just finally got sick of him, although, frankly, his
unsportsmanlike conduct is not nearly as offensive as his criminal record.
