We had limited time to publish yesterday and were blown away by
the settlement in the NIT-NCAA case: the NCAA has bought the NIT, lock,
stock, and barrel, for 56.5 million dollars. Fordham University, Manhattan College, St. John's University, Wagner College and New York University
will split the money.
Since this was presumably about the nasty things the NCAA did, we fully
expected the five schools to stand on principle. But apparently the
overriding principle for them was money, and the overriding principle for the
NCAA was to avoid disaster.
