Sympathy For The Devil - Why Winslow Isn't Treated Like Williams

Some people have asked recently why Jason Williams, who had a devastating
motorcyle accident, has
been treated more sympathetically than Kellen Winslow
, who has generally
been treated with disdain, after his own accident.

One of the differences is that Jason (please don't ask us to call him Jay; he
doesn't even like that) spent three years defining his public image as a smart,
polite, and very decent young man. Kellen Winslow's dad would argue that
his son is every bit of that, and we're sympathetic to his anger, but his son
has been abrasive and has said some offensive things, and for many people, that
pretty much defines his public image, like it or not.
