No great surprise here - N.C.
State beat UNC-Asheville by 30. Now it's worth mentioning that a
few years ago, this might have been one of those games that got people mad at
Herb Sendek, because State might have won by 10. Also worth mentioning:
the Pack is 7-1 and looking good.
Asheville coach Eddie Biedenbach says that State is
better without Julius Hodge because the other players are older and more
experienced.
Engin Atsur had a
solid game for the Pack.
Things may get a bit tougher soon - State gets Miami
next, although they are still without Anthony Harris (actually, we understand he has returned), then Alabama at Alabama, a
breather with New Hampshire, and then George Washington at home. Then UNC-G,
which is a laugher. Then UNC, BC, Georgia Tech, Duke, and Wake Forest.
Obviously there are two lame ones in there, but George
Washington is a serious threat, and ACC play will be rugged.
Jerry Wainwright
has some good feelings about Wake Forest, having coached there for nine
years. They might not like him as much right now, having just been upset
by his DePaul team.
Virginia Tech has switched Zabian Dowdell and Jamon
Gordon - Gordon was the point guard; now
Dowdell will play the spot.
