Maryland
opens their exhibition season Saturday with St. Francis-Xavier, which should
be a sure thing. After Wake's near-disaster Thursday, though, anything
could happen.
We had a very busy day Friday and didn't have time to link the shocking story
about Wake's
game against Winston-Salem State, which they almost blew, winning 88-84 in a
game that went down to the last 6.2 seconds. Wake had a lot of trouble
with defense last season, and it sounds like it hasn't necessarily gotten better
yet.
Meanwhile, in Chapel Hill, UNC
had no problem dispatching Fayetteville State. And in Raleigh, State
toyed with the University of Guelph, a Canadian squad, winning 75-46.
