ACC Roundup

In Sunday night ACC action, Miami
lost to Temple, 73-56,
with John Chaney getting on the P.A. system and
calling his own fans idiots.

Virginia, after a smart first half,
was blown out in the second by Arizona, 81-51.

And Maryland
beat Nicholls State, 88-56,
in front of a half-full house. Gary Williams
was not impressed.

We missed this article on UNC's post-title team on the New York Times
yesterday, but
here it is.

Tonight the ACC-Big Ten Challenge starts with Virginia Tech at Ohio
State. We'll be very surprised if the Hokies beat Ohio State. Thad
Motta is a brilliant coach, and the Buckeyes, fresh off of a sensational
recruiting class, are the most excited program in the nation. And their talent
ain't bad either.

On Tuesday night, we'd pick Wake, FSU, and Clemson to win for the ACC.
And on Wednesday, we're going with Maryland, Duke, and N. C. State.
Obviously B.C. is sitting out this year to make it an even field.

UNC will apparently debut new Nike-designed uniforms for their rematch with
Illinois. Last time around, if you recall, they had that hideous NC on the
front. Let's hope this time is better.

And speaking of UNC, former Heel Adam Boone is averaging 15.0 ppg for
Minnesota.
