Former Duke President Douglas Knight died this past weekend. Knight served for six years as Duke's President during the often chaotic '60's and eventually resigned in the wake of student protests that had tear gas wafting over the Main Quad. During his tenure, Knight presided over the establishment of Central Campus, a massive expansion of Perkins Library, the founding of Duke's business school, and the creation of several joint degree programs. President Knight was 83.
