An Interesting Read On Fans & Pro Sports

Here's a long and interesting article
about the relationship between North American (hey, hockey's in the mix) fans
and professional sports.
To us, the alienation between fans and pro teams
and athletes should offer an opportunity to college sports, if only at the
marketing level.

We heard a local talk show host in the Triangle say that NASCAR was making
the same mistake that hockey had made: moving to larger population centers
and away from the people who are truly passionate for the sport. That's a
smart insight, and particularly relevant in light of the hockey lockout.
