Clyde "The Glide" Austin, maybe the quickest player in the history
of the ACC, is
going to jail for a long time. A judge sentenced him to 17.5 years,
which puts him out of jail just about at retirement age.
He was sentenced for fraud and money-laundering charges.
Clyde Austin was the victim of one of the most memorable plays in ACC
history, when Dudley Bradley stripped him of the ball in the final seconds of a
game in Raleigh, when State had a one-point lead. UNC won, infuriating
Norm Sloan.
The Glide joins former teammate Hawkeye Whitney as members of the U.S. prison
population.
