Coach G has astonishingly wrapped up recruiting the Class of 2005 with a
verbal from 6-1 South Carolina wing Keturah Jackson. She actually committed about ten days
ago, but this was the first linkable story I've been able to find. After
some big misses in last year's class as well as not signing Marissa
Coleman, Coach G has done a fine job the last few weeks in securing some
important commitments. Brittany Mitch committed a while back, and I
expect that her size, ballhandling and excellent long-range shooting will
make her a perfect match for Duke's system. Emily Waner stands to inherit
Lindsey Harding's point guard spot after a year of tutelage in practice
and also brings a sizzling perimeter shot to the table. Abby Waner is a
dynamic scorer who can hit the three, attack you off the dribble and get
to the foul line. Carrem Gay is a strong, athletic player who can play
the 3, 4 and 5 and will likely become a valuable defensive force.
Finally, in Keturah Jackson Duke has Monique Currie's heir apparent: a
dynamic, slashing wing who can attack the rim and create her own shots.
She's known as a great student who is interested in sports medicine down
the line; Duke's own program will undoubtedly give her opportunities to
observe. Keturah even plays for the Blue Devils of Dreher High school.
She averaged 18 ppg, 8 rpg, 5 apg and 4 spg as a junior.
