Brittany Mitch to Duke!

The Washington Post reports that top junior guard Brittany Mitch has committed to Duke. This is a player
whom the staff has had an eye on for quite some time; she noted in her
article that Duke has always been her dream school. Sprouting up from 5-5
to her current height of 6-2 will make her a very tough matchup as a point
guard. A few things to note about Brittany: she started out at the Bullis
School, where both Kira Orr and Monique Currie played their high school
ball. Kira was in fact her assistant coach for two years, but after Wayne
Ferrell (father of Wake player and former Currie teammate Erin Ferrell)
moved on, Mitch did too, transferring to St John's Prep. She teamed with
another super junior, Marissa Coleman, a player who has already visited Duke twice (once at last year's Deep
South Classic) and is pals with Mo Currie. Coleman is also Mitch's AAU
teammate with the Fairfax Stars.

Mitch is a tough, clutch player. Playing against the #1 team in the
country (and their arch-rival), Bishop McNamara, Mitch hit the game-winning shot with five seconds left. St John's lost
the city title, though Mitch hit a late shot to tie the game,
but their opponent won at the last second. Mitch scored 22 in the game prior to that. Her season average was just 10.5 ppg
but don't let that fool you--bottom line, Mitch is a winner. Her team
won the 13 and under AAU national title back in 2001.
