Duke will be playing Wake Forest tonight in Cameron before the big
Saturday showdown against UNC. Considering that the Deacs beat the Heels
just recently, the team has little room for complacency. The good news
for Duke is that Iciss Tillis will be back, but the bad news is that
Brittany Hunter won't be playing. She had her knee drained (again) and
hasn't practiced this week. That hurts, because Wake's greatest flaw is a
lack of size, and Brit could have really punished them. Hopefully Iciss
is all the way back, because the team will really need her, especially on
the boards. Mistie Bass is also nursing a hip injury, meaning that Alison
Bales could provide some valuable minutes if she's up to the task. What
Wake does have is a number of talented guards and wings, with Tonia Brown,
Cotelia Bond-Young, Bianca Brown pacing their guard attack and Erin
Ferrell (Mo Currie's high school teammate) & Liz Strunk scoring from the
wing. Strunk is one of the ACC's most improved players, going from being
a career scrub to one of the league's best scorers. Perimeter defense and
rebounding will be the watchwords for this game.
