As we hinted at earlier, Pete and Ginny Nicholas, the chairs of the Campaign for Duke, have given Duke a gift of $72 million, which is the largest gift (unadjusted for inflation) in the history of Duke. Their gift raised the final total of the Campaign for Duke to over $2,361,205,387, the largest ever raised by a university in the South and the fifth largest ever raised in the nation (and $860 million over the original goal). Cumulatively, the Nicholases have donated about $130 million to Duke. The latest gift targets $70 to the School of the Environment and $2 million towards the renovation of Perkins Library.
